in case you weren't sure..

Cali is a diva. Jason brought her to me at work the other day for her therapy 'work' with the veterans. We live 30 minutes away, so she had a nice long ride in the spring air..DIVA.

Destination diners

If you haven't figured it out by now, we typically focus our travels on food and wine. So it shouldn't surprise you that we drive across states simple to eat...more than once. For my 30th birthday, we traveled to Philadelphia to dine at Morimoto's restaurant. He is an Iron Chef (original and American version). This past weekend, our friend Rob had a birthday and he wanted to have the experience of Morimoto's as well. So, we did it again. We drove four hours, stayed in a hotel..for dinner. ;-)The food was great, as usual. We had fresh made tofuand a large selection of sushi that can't be found in RichmondRob seemed to enjoy his dinnerI am not a Philly fan but I will admit we stayed in a nice area. We had a nice view of the river and Independence Park
some important documents were signed here..so I have been told. But enough about our travels. Dog photos!
We also participated in the Pet Expo in Richmond. cali was 'off'..she didn't want to be there from the moment we walked in. I could hardly get her to schmooze at all. I think..she is getting a little TOO diva for the ambassa-dog world. There is this one bone that she is coveting. She carries it everywhere. it looks like she is smoking a cigarette! She was so obsessed that even Henry's antics would not tear her away!
But..they worked with Dana
Someone's birthday is coming up....
Spring has sprung here is Richmond..green photos to come!!!!

wine, leather chairs and greyhounds..oh my!

so...it snowed again. big deal. We haven't seen grass in 3 weeks. Right before posting this blog, I looked outside to see a flock of robins in a tree (look closely there are a bunch).and a deer munching leaves behind the fence..maybe they know something we don'tbut anyways..I have spent a lot of time indoors. Even the Super bowl was low key due to nasty weather. I guess not everyone dines like we do for the Big Game?but for Valentines Day we went to a wine dinner at a local winery (James river Cellars). Kristen, Gyeong, Scott and Iva came along too. we did the obligatory pre-drinking photos:My stab at being artsy..and of course..the post 2-3 courses of food and wine photos.
What do you think Gyeong is grabbing for here?mr. innocent. The next morning, Kristen and Gyeong needed to go visit family in richmond so we kept their kids for them for the day. That gave us 9 dogs for the day..first there was a sunbeam fixation
then everyone settled for a bit (L-R: Dana, Stella, Henry, Stanley, Shiloh, Cali, Dante, Jaime)Then..it started..the fight for the leather chair....
Stella started it while Gyeong enjoyed his coffee
then Stanley and Parker shared it..Then Parker had his turn..in a VERY cute wayAnd finally, the chair gave in and grew legs and teeth..Stanley styleMaybe Spring will spring soon enough..right now I would settle for some green in my scenery.

did I do this??

Now, I am typically not so narcissistic to think I am able to alter outcomes or situations. I am able to leave football games at half time, knowing that my team will win or lose no matter if I am there or not. BUT, the weather..it is getting a little creepy.
Some odd years ago, I was explaining to someone how my mom found my name on the hurricane list in 1976. And that the name pops up on the list every few years, but had not become a hurricane. And..this is the important part..I would say that I hoped the hurricane was big enough for people to remember it. I didn't want my namesake to be a piddly depression that bounced off in to the Atlantic. yeah...my bad.
And last year I was complaining that Richmond never got snow, I have lived here 10 years and we really needed a good snow. Not just a piddly one..but a BIG one.
Over the last 12 month, we have over 40 inches of snow. Here are more photos from the 3rd round of snow this weekend..we got about 10 inches total from this one.
Again..it was blizzard like conditions for the SECOND saturday in a rowShiloh still wanted to eat it..Dante did find one thing he likes about snowy Saturdays.But..alas we awoke to another beautiful Sunday morning with a lovely blanket of fresh snow...again..And after a few of these weather events, I have learned to preempt the sore joints and muscles by giving the aged ones Rimadyl prior to playing! So Dana, Shiloh and Henry had a nice pain free romp.
Then they all enjoyed some play time together.

Minor crash b/c Henry forgot he lacked snow brakes.Cali was playing with her toy and threw it for herself..and psyched herself out.Dana figured out the snow was lightest by the fence.
Miss Dana looking pretty
Maybe we will see green grass again by spring. I don't live in the northern states for a reason..I like snow but in small doses. But I will try to keep my weather wishes milder and to myself in the future. ;-)
