Young blood

We've definitely had our share of 'senior living' and the last year has been tough.  But I did get used to living with a bunch of old and sick dogs.  When I lost Shiloh, I honestly didn't think I had the ability to do it again.  We all feel that way.  I knew I'd always have dogs and I would always love them..but I wasn't sure one would ever fill that void.
I was wrong.  It has been nice to have some young blood and activity around the house.  We celebrated Cali's 6 month post ampu-versary this month and her Xrays were clear.  Dana turns 13 1/2 next week which is a milestone!
But the babies in the house have stolen my lens for now..they are just too much fun.
We are watching Petey and Stella for a week and originally we were worried Cody wouldn't be small dog tolerant.  He truly doesn't care about them. Even in the heat of the chase, with one literally nipping at his heels.
Cody loves kids and enjoyed when our niece and nephew visited last weekend.
Roxi has started obedience school and goes twice a week for classes.  She does really well and is learning quickly.  It is good for us as well since 'one on one' training is difficult in a house of 4.
And we are also watching Vesta..who does the roach like no other.
And Petey..such a cutie
I promised Cali I'd post photos of her soon. She's feeling very left out and ignored (which we all know is not possible).

Gotcha

It was only a matter of time.  We kept telling Roxi we would get her a young greyhound to play with one day.  Well...that day has come.
You may remember seeing him a previous post.  He was our foster and went to a home 2 weeks ago.  He was returned yesterday due to no fault of his own.  We really liked him when we had him and decided his search for a forever home was over.
Meet Cody (previously known as Flash)
He is 5 years old and his race name was Takis I Am.  He is super snuggly, loves people, fits in well and thinks Jason hung the moon.  And he and Roxi play constantly.  Sometimes it looks like a scene out of Wrestlemania around here!
He is naked..with a very smackable bottom.  Both of our girls are very fuzzy, so we haven't had a naked one in a while.
"Will you be my Mommy?"
 Yes, Cody...welcome to the pack.

Farm Days

Every few years, we make a group trip to my parents farm in Southwestern Virginia to hang by the pool and enjoy the quiet.  This year, Kristen and I took the little dogs.  Roxi had not been to my parents' house yet and Parker has been in the past and had fun.  Without a fence, it is a lot of work to take all the greyhounds.
Roxi had a lot of fun with her first farm experience (that I'm aware of).  She spent a lot of time baying at the horses.  I really need to record her bay..it is quite the sound. Very high pitched and 'roo' like.
Sugar put up with this for a bit and then made Roxi know she is in charge.
I introduced "Baby" formerly known as Kristen a few months back.  She has really improved and looks so much better now!
 Kristen meets Kristen

I love this photo of Sugar
And I think this is Rocky..but maybe it is Sugar.  Horses have the best eyes.
When Roxi wasn't bothering the horses, she was chasing little butterflies that flew in large groups.  Entertained her for a long time.
And she cooled off in the pool..even though I don't think she enjoyed it as much as we did.
Roxi also got educated on cats.  Missy is Mom's new barn cat and she is like Sugar and made sure everyone knew she was in charge. She particularly liked to sit inside the tack room and jump out of the cat hole with a loud spit and hiss at unsuspecting passing pups.

I realized I did not have a photo of my Dad and I, so we fixed that this weekend!!!
 And a group shot
And as we were leaving, Gyeong saw this cicada after it had just molted.  Pretty neat!
It was a great fourth of July weekend spent with friends and family!
