Lucky 13

We celebrated Cali's 13 month ampuversary this weekend.  It really is amazing when you think about it.  She did have a small tumor removed from her hind leg 2 weeks ago..but luckily it was benign.  The sutures popped and it has been an ordeal to get it heal..but I will spare you those photos.

Next month..if all continues as well..we celebrate her 14 month ampuversary and her 12th birthday. 

Warm and Cozy

We are in the throws of 'Virginia winter' which means cold, windy, rainy weather...but rarely snow.  So we all have quality pjs in front of the fire time.
Cody loves it and thinks the fireplace is the best thing ever.

He does have the best seat in the house..

Roxi on the other hand has an odd fascination with the fireplace.  She has the coat of a bear and loves to be outside.  But she will sit and stare at the fire for a while..(this angle always reminds me of Shiloh)

Occasionally, she will break her stare..

But she just likes watching the flames...

Our first greyhound turns 14 today.  I can't believe how well she doing (knock on wood).

One year...

I can't believe it has been one year.  We are elated and proud of Cali.  She is honestly pain-free and happy.
From a day of extreme darkness and grief to a day of happiness and joy.

The start of a New Year

 The weather turned mild for a few days after Christmas so we took advantage and enjoyed the sunshine a bit.  We've started Cali on "metronomic chemotherapy" which is basically very very low dose chemotherapy orally along with Doxycycline (which is anti-angiogenic).  So far she is doing great on it with no side effects. The point of it is to 'tick' (like a metronome) at any cancer cells growing. 

 I know she is feeling good when she is sassy.
